Een toekomst voor steenkool in het interieur
Jesper Eriksson onderzoekt of een product zo basaal als steenkool kan worden toegepast als hoogwaardig materiaal en zo een nieuwe toekomst heeft.
Swedish Artist and Designer Jesper Eriksson explores a speculative future for coal as an organic material for architecture and interior design in ‘Coal: Post-Fuel’ Coal is traditionally seen as a completely functional raw material; its value is derived solely from its own destruction.

Christien Meindertsma onderzoekt wol en vlas
Christien Meindertsma is bezig met materiaal en hoe dit weer te gebruiken, dit keer o.a. wol en vlas. Het was al te zien en Londen en bij Vitra in Basel.
Fibre Market is a research project exploring the possibilities of the Fibre Sort machine by Wieland Textiles and Valvan Baling Systems. The machine can scan and sort clothing based upon its material contents, making what was once an inefficient and difficult process – relying on touch and sight – efficient and swift. For the exhibition Fear and Love, 1000 woollen sweaters were scanned and sorted. Miendertsma then compared the scanners results to the information on the products labels, revealing frequent inaccuracies. After sorting, the sweaters were shredded into fibre, ready to become something new.

PVC Handblowing Project
En het hangt denk ik in de lucht, hergebruik van simpele materialen tot design, Wat te denken van de vazen van Kohdai Iwamoto?
“What will be happen if an old manufacturing process meets cheap and mass-produced material?” This project came about as a result of my curiosity with the above question.

Samenwerking Hella Jongerius en Mutina
Kleurexpert Hella Jongerius ging een samenwerking aan met Mutina, met een nieuwe collectie tot gevolg.
Diarama, a tile collection for Mutina, is a study of a wide range of chromatic shades which are layered over coloured clay tiles – the collection is about pure color, applied on different ceramic bases like a second skin. Different coloured clay bodies form the base, glazes with varying intensities are layered on top to create several new hues. The surface doesn’t look like it was simply colored, but appears to be mixed like in an oil painting.
