Formafantasma (Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin) are designers who dissect the ecological and political responsibilities of their discipline. Their holistic approach reaches back into the history of a particular material used by humans, out towards the patterns of supply chains that have developed to support and expand its use, and forward to the future of that material’s survival in relation to human consumption.
On her extended stay in Cape Town during the worldwide lockdown, Dutch trend forecaster Li Edelkoort went in search of hope and new paradigms of making. She found both at the studio of ceramicist Andile Dyalvane, who is hard at work on his next collection.
Watch the video of Li interviewing Andile about his rural childhood, his role as a healer and the animism that roots his practice.
Weer een bijzondere samenwerking van 2 wereldmerken.
IKEA and Lego have collaborated to create Bygglek, storage boxes that aim to turn tidying into a game with stud-covered lids kids can top with their own creations. The collaborative collection aims to 'encourage play and infuse more fun' into tidying up and organising the home by giving children a box of lego that is both a building platform and a place to store the pieces or display them as sculptures.
Knitted steak, 3D marrow eggs, exquisite lab pearls and exotic meat oysters are all on the futuristic menu at Bistro In Vitro, a fictional restaurant serving lab-grown meat dishes that might just end up on your plate one day. This online project explores and expands the boundaries of our food culture to show that cultured meat is no inferior substitute.
